Tesla has brought Sentry Mode Previews to Android, giving phone owners on that platform the opportunity to view video clips captured by their vehicle remotely.
Tesla had first brought Sentry Mode Previews to iPhones in April, but many were unable to use the new feature because they were not iOS users. Android owners have been adamant about having the feature available to them as well.
It now seems Tesla has added the feature.
Tesla App Update Version 4.36.1 officially adds Sentry Mode Previews for Android, according to Not a Tesla App.
The video previews are limited to one minute in length. Full videos can only be viewed within the vehicle, but the previews will still give a good idea of an event that occurs nearby their car.
Sentry Mode Improvements
Tesla rolled out Sentry Mode a few years ago, but the automaker continued to push improvements to the feature as it had several shortcomings. Of course, the issue of not being able to watch portions of the clip remotely from a Smartphone was solved as Tesla initiated preview viewing on iPhone and now Android.
But another monumental problem and complaint owners had was that activating Sentry Mode caused battery drain.
With battery life and range being such a necessity for owners, keeping their car secure with the peace of mind that Sentry Mode brought gave people a tough decision to make: maintain range or use some of it to keep Sentry Mode active.
Tesla said it was working to reduce the power consumption of Sentry Mode by ~40 percent. This update was set to be released in Q2.
