After more than a nine month wait, Tesla has finally opened the Supercharger station in Whitecourt, Alberta, giving it the title of northernmost Supercharger in Canada. However, it won’t hold that title for long.
Construction began on the Whitecourt Supercharger all the way back in October 2023. Given its northern location, Tesla built just 4 V3 (250kW) stalls, but as we have covered extensively over the past few weeks, it sat without power since then.
Today the power was finally turned on, and the Whitecourt Supercharger is now operational and appearing in the mobile app. It is also already on Tesla’s Supercharger map, where it shows it is available to EVs with a North American Charging Standard (NACS) adapter, which as of now is only Ford and Rivian, but will soon be nearly all other EVs.
While Whitecourt is currently the northernmost Supercharger in Canada, it won’t hold that title for long. Valleyview, about 170km further north, should see their Supercharger turned on in the next day or two. The Valleyview Supercharger has also been waiting over nine months to be turned on.
This week Tesla has also turned on new Superchargers in Niagara Falls and Orillia, Ontario.
